1958 Fender Stratocaster REFIN
The owner bought this one in the late 60's for a few hundred bucks...
...and had her painted blue by a auto body man.
He's kicking himself!!!
All ther GOODS are untouched save for the few solder joints to the output jack.
The cavities were luckily taped off preserving the original finish and body date.
I believe that the claw ground to the output jack was never removed...just taped over!
The 3-tone sunburst was introduced mid-58...this had to have been a VERY EARLY example!
Original finish was sanded off, primed and painted with lacquer-based product.
She cleaned up pretty good with no hidden repairs or damage.
All three nail holes were present and will be used this go round. The body has been sealed and is ready for color.
Care was taken to maintain all contours as close to factory spec as possible.
First, the body gets a yellow tint followed by a dark edge, careful not to go too far in towards the center.
Now for a bit of color...
Last, the red tint is added following the body edges...thus a 3-tone sunburst.
Now a coat of clear to seal the colors and drying time.
