1969 Gibson Les Paul

A '69 Naturalized, EMG'd Paul has entered the building!

Sort of cool in a sadistic way...it has to be those naturally aged creme EMG's!

Uncool though is the ravages of a flathead screwdriver and a lack of good sense.

Sign of the times...mid-80's pots to go with the awesomely active pickups

The damage actually extends under the surface of the maple top!!!

Since both cavaties were mangled and many screw holes present...I'll just make a whole new center section

I end the repair section just forward of the bridge so that if a "sink line" appears, it will be somewhat hidden by the ABR.

No need to match grain. Also, note the blue stuff...BONDO!!! I love this stuff.

I also extended the new wood over the cavaties in order to allow for neat, new rounded corners.

Hats off to Guitar Reranch for the Gold Spray Bomb! This stuff really does the job with NO messy cleanup.

Sanded smooth and routed for mini-humbuckers...thanks Wig for the circa 1969 matched set.

AHH! Fresh pickup cavaties anxiously awaiting electronics.

It's a bit risky, but I like to scrape the bindings while the paint is still wet...it comes off so easy.

All new wiring, pots, caps and so on.

Wetsanded and buffed...ready for reassembly.

Pretty much done. Original spec parts can now be found and installed at owners will.

This one SCREAMS!
