1965 Gibson SG Junior REDUX

Removed maestro and added tune-O-matic...mmm, actually a good idea.

No neck breaks or major damage. Alas, this one was white in the beginning.

A wasted 65 Jr with a swimming pool big enough for 3 pups.

I convinced Tom, the owner, to let me "HAVE AT IT!" We'll go for an SG Special! Notice the make-do pickguard...it was 1/8-inch thick plastic!

A mohagany block fills the pool and is now under the clamps.

After block snading the body flat, the screw holes need to be filled...ALL 48 OF THEM!

This is another good shot. Gibson boys would drill the wiring hole before the neck went in, thru the neck joint cavity. I had to go the opposite route!

Original control hole layout is the same for both 1 & 2 Pup models...just widen' her up a bit

I love this shot...reminds me of that "Hellraiser" dude...Pinhead? I usually use matching wood dowels, but this was too much.

P90 cavities routed and the body is now sealed. Note the original control holes had to be filled and redrilled...they had been "wallered" out.

After much deliberation, Tom has decided to go with BLACK! That'll be cool.

Looks pretty close.

Parts are here and awaiting installation.

I forgot to take pix while painting...but here she is after buffing out.

Finally complete!

I wired it up just like they did back in the day.

...and the back...

I went with a later 60's style pickguard.

...shines like a mirror.
