| 1968 Fender Telecaster Bass Resto! |

All body contours have been hacked and sanded beyond help. |
Note the bridge area was power sanded around! At least a 1/16" raised "plateau" was established. |
The most wasted Fender body I have ever witnessed! We must make it better! |
The lower bass bout was sanded down ala P-Bass style! |
The body after a few passes through the planer. Note severe lack of "flatness"! |
This is what a power sander will do for you. There were about 4 layers of paint. |

Let the glue fly! Now begins the process of applying the new top and back. Since finish will be a red, I'll use poplar to veneer the top and back. |
What little remains will be strong again! She's only 1-1/4 inches thick now. We'll build her up with a new top & back. |
All original cavities are routed and the edges are given a smooth 1/8" roundover. |
Sand all surfaces to about 400 grit and prep for paint.Top and Back are "DEAD FLAT"! |
Using a close-grained wood will avoid having to fill the body...saving time and costs. |
White primer and hang to dry. Thats the neck there and a '65 Mosrite Ventures up in the corner. |
Trusty ol' Fender style paint stick. Hmm..last guitar that stick saw must'a been Burgundy Mist Metallic! |
Assembly of parts begins... |
...remnants of colors past. |
On to the next project...a 1963 Guild Thunderbird TOTAL RESTORATION...stay tuned |
Red it is! |
Done for now...or is it? |
